45th rpm Anniversary of the Moon Landing

Sure the main stream press and nearly everyone on this space rock can celebrate our landing on the moon, but only ARC has made sure every moonscape and space age record is preserved – sure to be party time favorites when aliens bother to pay us a visit.

If you missed the news, 45 years ago today, July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC, Apollo 11 landed on the Earth’s moon, and Neil Armstrong took the first tentative, unrealized steps towards space travel. The only tangible legacy is a slew of recordings, writings and films about what might have been, taping into the promise of making friends or meeting fiends more than 60 miles away (the Kármán line).

ARC has been covering the moonscape and space age music scene for decades now, so why not have a look at some of our stories and images, including: the gold Voyager disc that NASA launched into space to explain US to THEM through music; ARC’s mission statement as viewed by Aliens; “Music Out Of The Moon” about an early Theremin recording; an overview of Sputnik recordings; and our incredible Space Helmet Gallery where we picked the above recording by the Velvet Fog.
