Carnaval

Well its Ash Wednesday, and that mean farewell to meat, and let the fasting begin.  We prefer Samba to somber, so here’s a recent addition to ARC’s collection, a lovely Japanese pressing of Orfeu Negro (Philips, Japan, SFX-5034 (M), 12″ 33.3rpm, 1972).  This original soundtrack is one of 1,200 LPs that accompanied the CDs from the Richard Zirinsky donation of Pop, Brazilian and other World Music recently dropped off .  Here’s a pic of some of those 40,000 CDs before they were packed up and delivered.  More soon on this great collection as we unpack, unpack, unpack, wiping the ash off our foreheads.

Thanks for your email notification of this probably-brilliant recording!

In the future, (perhaps it is already present, but I can’t find it)would you include a ‘quick’ listen link for any technically-illiterate people like my 70-year-old self?

Thanks if so, and oh well if not!!!

    🙂
