In last week’s New Yorker is a supremely bugged out article about a guy who is keeping a “Lifelog” documenting practically every moment of his life. He walks around with a heat sensitive camera around his neck which takes a couple thousand photos EACH DAY. To say nothing of the zillions of scans of ephemera he’s managed to store which span his 72 years of life. Anyone who works in an archive should feel the hair rising on the back of his neck. This article can be read as a cautionary tale about the obsessive compulsion to collect, or a salve to the neurotic collector who will (at last) be able to say, “At least I’m not THAT guy!”
