Only our Second Poster Post in 40 Years

OK, so maybe our Second Poster Post since 1993 when the web thing became real, but still, these deserve to be honored.  It’s just one of the 217 amazing posters that ARCtivist Tim Broun donated today from his personal collection.  They’re mostly from his erstwhile teenage years, in amazing shape.  Above is one of the rarer Clash posters from the Bond International Casino shows in NYC.  (1981, 42.25″ x 58″). Tim says he bought it at the show for $5, but fetches in the low four-figures these days.

I remember how exciting the show I saw was, and how too many fans were uninterested and impatient with opening act Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.  Wish I had seen the show with the Fall.  I also saw the band daytime later outside the Gramercy Hotel.  I only recognized Joe, dressed kinda cowboy, sitting on a white (Cadillac?) convertible.  So cool.  Too cool for me to approach.

Moving on.  Here’s another sweet show I wish I’d seen, featuring 3 of the best, ATV, LKJ, and the Pop Group.

String together “We Are All Prostitutes,” “The Force Is Blind.” and “Fite dem Back” and it’s hard to tell if it’s the late 70s or early 2025.  On the bright side and speaking of the 70s, here’s a handmade offering from the pre-school, pre-Alpa Romeo owner Tim, that somehow zoomed it’s way into the poster pile.

PS: That’s Fred and Tim holding the Clash poster at our soon-to-be former ARC. Bonus, here’s Tim’s Clash poster given to him and signed by artist/photographer Kate Simon, who took the pic that graced the cover of the bands first LP. We are so lucky!
