Did I praise Spring in the last blog? Well, snowstorm today, a Nor’easter Tuesday? Regardless, we’re doing some spring cleaning in these-here parts, and wanted to re-visit some recent discoveries we’ve unearthed. We term our endless comparing of existing recordings in the collection with new donations, “Gardening.” You know – deep digging, pruning, replanting, composting. In political terms lets just say a more gentle repeal and replace; a welcoming of productive new immigrants.
So here are two just in-filed bouquets. They are a gift from, and autographed to, artist/designer Hilary Knight. You all know him from his Eloise illustrations. We mentioned these discs more than a year ago, but just recently rediscovered them while in-filing new donations in the ‘Exotica’ section. So enjoy these covers, and be in awe that Yma Sumac was his pal!
PS – In May we will be showing a great many of our signed recordings here at the ARC in Tribeca – a preview of a future exhibition, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” and a mini-fundraiser for the library. Do let us know if you have any autographed recordings to contribute!
