Unsettling coincidences here @ ARC lately.
Going trough a recently donated batch we came across this single, “The President Song” by Victor Trumper. At first glance all I saw was, “Victory Trump.” THEN, last Saturday, the day Mr. Trump was shot, “Are My Ears On Straight,” arrived. Coincidences? I think not.

That same Saturday, the day I go to the local Recycling Center to drop off ARC cardboard, I see something I’ve never seen before – a modern pop CD. Sure there’s a lot of Stan Kenton and Engelbert Humperdinck in heaps, but a recent, popular artist? But there it was, this Taylor Swift CD. Tossed like a Joni James album into the trashbin of history. THEN, back at ARC on Monday, this “Golden Trumpet” LP is unpacked. At first glance all I saw was, “Golden Trump.” Spookier still is the past-live portrait of Ms. Swift on the cover, circa 1960. I’m afraid to open the next box of records when they arrive…
As the song says, “Anyone telling a bigger story would have to be telling a lie.” (extra credit if you can identify the song’s authors.)
