ARC celebrated Labor Day with long drives and short stops, adding a great many wonderful items to the library. Here’s a few.  

Uptop, the Clash patch.  A mere buck and on the back label the news that “The Clash” is a registered trademark of Dorisimo Ltd.  Seems they are a UK company specializing in entertainment stuff and hubris.

Another Nice item is this 45 by  Mercy Dee (Mercy Dee Walton,1915-1962).  Also a buck. It’s the first pressing, and it turns out it’s actually worth something.  In pretty good shape.  I had never heard of Mr. Dee, a jump blues piano player and vocalist. His “One Room Country Shack” became a bit of a blues standard, and his compositions often dealt with the hard times and problems of Southern and Western rural African Americans. I’ll ask Fred for more info when I’m back at the ARC this week. He’s our expert on blues and R&B people.

By far the find of the day is this GE/Disney “Pluto” children’s turntable.  More than a buck. Can’t imagine how much fun it would have been to drop that bone on the platter!  It barks a bit, but still works. 

Other finds on this belated first road trip of the year include some pop-pulps, French girl paperbacks, 4 Seasons 45s, a rock and a roll printed silk scarf, a copy of the oversized and Hippie-dipsie Woodstock Aquarian magazine and one box of Brasilian 78s + LPs left on our doorstep. 

By the way.  As I type AI keeps telling me that long sentences are confusing and hard for people to scan. We chatted a bit and I suggested it get a copy of Proust and shut up.
